 Framework Overview
Open and honest communications are not
only essential to achieving our organisational objectives, they are fundamental in ensuring that the communities in North Ayrshire are kept informed and have a clear understanding of our organisation and our ambition to encourage More People to be More Active More Often.
Following the COVID-19 outbreak, it has never been more important for us to communicate effectively. From the beginning of lockdown as our facilities closed, it was apparent that COVID-19 would have a significant impact on our organisation and the communities of North Ayrshire. This position is likely to remain challenging for the foreseeable future.
As the UK went into lockdown and normal operation was suspended, it became critical for us to engage and maintain a strong relationship with our customers and to encourage people to remain active. We adapted services and created the infrastructure where possible to deliver programmes online. We wanted to ensure we maintained customer engagement during
facility closure and crucially retain a customer base for business resumption.
To keep us on track we created a framework to support our communication activities for both
internal and external purposes
within the context of COVID-19. It
is set against the backdrop of the pandemic and aligns to the Scottish Government Communications Toolkit, North Ayrshire Council’s COVID-19 Communications Plan, Sportscotland Coronavirus Information Hub and NHS Inform COVID-19 Resource Toolkit.
This framework outlines the necessary functions required to effectively communicate during organisational closure, preparations for re-opening and resuming activities, incident management and potential subsequent outbreaks
or local restrictions. It’s pragmatic, flexible, responsive and reflects available resource. It highlights
our communication approach and provides details on the associated arrangements and processes. In addition it also includes a selection of examples of current internal and external communication activity.
