Repair work is continuing at pace to bring the pool at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre back into full use.
Work got under way just last month with specialist contractors Walker Cladding undertaking the process of repairing the roof of the facility.
The roof suffered extensive damage earlier this year when Storm Éowyn brought record-breaking winds and significant disruption across the UK.
The works are currently well on target and the installation of the new roof is at an advanced stage.
Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet Member for Green Environment and Economy, said:
“We’re delighted to see the rapid progress which has been made in the past few weeks.
“It is not simply a matter of replacing the damaged roof – the contractors have also undertaken structural repairs to ensure the building’s resilience in the longer term.
“Once again, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while the works are ongoing.”
This programme of repair works, including the subsequent internal reinstatement of the pool area, is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year and further updates will be provided in the coming weeks.

Important step taken towards reopening of Auchenharvie Leisure Centre
Initial preparations are now under way to bring Auchenharvie Leisure Centre swimming pool back into use.
Specialist contractors Walker Cladding arrived on site today (Monday 4 August) to begin the process of repairing the roof of the facility.
The roof suffered extensive damage earlier this year when Storm Éowyn brought record-breaking winds and significant disruption across the UK.
Since then, Council officers, along with colleagues at KA Leisure, have worked behind the scenes to draw up a plan of action to allow the repairs to take place.
Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet Member for Green Environment and Economy, said:
“We’re delighted to confirm that the contractors have arrived on site today to begin setting up for what will be an extensive programme of works.“Initially, passers-by will not see any work being carried out as the programme will see a massive scaffolding structure erected inside the pool’s hall, to allow the contractors access to safely work on the roof.
“This is expected to take a number of weeks and, once complete, work will be able to start in earnest on the removal and replacement of the damaged roof.
“While this work is carried out, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding.”
This programme of repair works, including the subsequent internal reinstatement of the pool area, is expected to take a number of months and it is hoped that it will be completed towards the end of the year.
