General Information


The Portal and Townhouse caters for local and family history, art exhibitions, community and cultural events, as well as sports and leisure activities. The building comprises of function and exhibition areas, a six lane 25m main pool, a teaching pool, a six-court sports hall, studios, a fitness suite, both wet and dry changing areas, and pool viewing area. All areas of the venue are fully accessible for wheelchair users and those with a disability.
The fitness suite boasts a variety of top of the range fitness equipment including large functional and free weight areas. Our knowledgeable instructors are on hand to support you to reach your training goals while our packed class programme offers something for everyone.

We practise light cardio and tone most muscles in our body then finish with a stretch and some pelvic floor exercises. As well as giving mums a chance to bond with their baby, post natal exercise can offer a world of benefits too. This all over body workout can be done literally holding your baby. We practise light cardio and tone most muscles in our body then finish with a stretch and some pelvic floor exercises. We have a play area filled with toys for your little one to play in if they wish. All exercises can be adapted for if your holding your baby or not. We also have soft weights which are more than safe to be around little fingers and tare away toddlers.
