KA Leisure is delighted to announce that The Portal has been named a finalist in the ukactive Awards 2026, one of the UK's most respected awards programmes celebrating excellence across the physical activity and leisure sector.
The Portal has been shortlisted in the Regional Public Club/Centre of the Year (Scotland) category, recognising its outstanding contribution to health, wellbeing and community engagement across North Ayrshire.
The ukactive Awards, supported by the Swimming Teachers' Association (STA), celebrate the people, organisations and facilities that are raising standards, driving innovation and making a positive impact within communities throughout the UK. This year saw a record-breaking 190 entries submitted across 14 categories, making The Portal's place on the shortlist an exceptional achievement.
Since opening its doors, The Portal has become a vibrant hub for fitness, sport, health and wellbeing, welcoming thousands of visitors per year and providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be more active. The nomination reflects the dedication of the entire KA Leisure team and their commitment to delivering high-quality facilities, programmes and customer experiences.

Winners will be announced at the ukactive Awards ceremony on 8 October 2026 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham.
