Repair work is continuing at pace to bring the pool at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre back into full use.

Work got under way just last month with specialist contractors Walker Cladding undertaking the process of repairing the roof of the facility.

The roof suffered extensive damage earlier this year when Storm Éowyn brought record-breaking winds and significant disruption across the UK.

The works are currently well on target and the installation of the new roof is at an advanced stage.

Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet Member for Green Environment and Economy, said: “We’re delighted to see the rapid progress which has been made in the past few weeks.

“It is not simply a matter of replacing the damaged roof – the contractors have also undertaken structural repairs to ensure the building’s resilience in the longer term.

“Once again, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while the works are ongoing.”

This programme of repair works, including the subsequent internal reinstatement of the pool area, is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year and further updates will be provided in the coming weeks.
