Malcolm McPhail has been appointed to the post of Chief Executive on a permanent basis, Malcolm has acted in the interim role for the past two years and has supported the recovery and renewal of KA Leisure following the effects of the pandemic and is currently leading the development of an innovative Community Health and Wellbeing Alliance on behalf of the North Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership.
 
Malcolm is a Senior Independent Director at CIMSPA and brings to the role a broad scope of experience which includes his former positions of Group CEO at Life Leisure and Group Fitness Director at Next Generation Group and a tremendous track record in business and sport, operating at board level for the last 15 years.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have been entrusted with continuing to lead KA Leisure at such an exciting but equally pivotal time and I fully recognise the responsibility that comes with the role. 
 
Having worked at the heart of sport and physical activity over the past decade, I resonate with the challenging landscape and it’s my ambition to build strong, lasting partnerships with key stakeholders and identify new opportunities to ensure KA Leisure plays an ever-expanding role in improving the health and wellbeing of everybody in North Ayrshire.
 
I’m excited by the opportunity to continue working with the Board of Directors to deliver our strategic plan and to build upon the incredible work KA Leisure already do in supporting people to become more active and live a healthy happy life. I also acknowledge the challenges both the Trust and wider community in North Ayrshire face from the double impact of recovering from COVID-19 and an unprecedented cost of living crisis.
 
KA Leisure has a key role to play in supporting the health and wellbeing of North Ayrshire communities and I’m committed to working with all partners to ensure there are opportunities for everyone to remain connected to KA Leisure facilities and services.
 
It’s an honour and a privilege to be selected as the permanent Chief Executive and having worked with the team KA over the period this has been my motivation to continue the story together.”
