About Routenburn Golf Course
Routenburn Golf Course, opened 1913, is a fantastic example of a James Braid designed golf course. Although not the longest course, at 5262 yards, this hilly, moorland course offers a challenge for all levels of golfers as well as some breathtaking views over to Arran, the Cumbraes and beyond. Routenburn is the course where Sam Torrance developed his skills under the watchful eye of his father Bob Torrance, before going on to become a leading player on the European Tour, a regular member of Europe’s Ryder Cup Team, the 2002 Ryder Cup Captain & than a leading contender on the European Seniors Tour. PGA Professional Greig McQueen is based on site at Routenburn providing a well stocked shop as well as golf instruction and coaching for golfers of all levels.
Located approximately 3 miles from Largs town centre on the A78, close to the Upper Firth of Clyde with breathtaking views over Arran and the Cumbraes. This hilly, moorland course offers the golfer an unforgettable experience.
Individual visitors and parties are always welcome at Routenburn. Tee times can be booked up to seven days in advance by telephoning the Professional Shop (01475 687240). Reservations for party bookings may be made at anytime of year subject to availability. Discounted rates are available for reservations of 12 or more golfers. Fees are payable at the Golf Shop prior to teeing off. Visitors to the course are always welcomed in the clubhouse to relax after a challenging round. There is a well stocked bar and a selection of meals served at weekends and for visiting parties (by prior arrangement).
