Role Summary:
To provide effective leadership and management of teams, ensuring that the service standards are consistently high, and that members and customers are encouraged and motivated to attend regularly and return. Lead the team to develop and deliver services, including Fitness, Group Exercise, and Personal Training, that reduce health inequalities and promote wellbeing for the people of North Ayrshire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that systems are in place for the effective management across the fitness area, including the management of performance, risk, change, health and safety, and people management.
- Develop high performing teams, drive exceptional employee engagement, and promote our Core Values and Behaviours.
- Utilise the Performance Management system and processes, with staff across the department to ensure service excellence, coaching key team members to deliver these to a high standard.
- Develop the Fitness teams through inspired leadership, adopting a coaching approach where possible. Ensure optimum usage of available training (workshops, e-learning etc) for all staff.
- Using available data, reports, and participation trackers, drive usage and penetration to increase retention of members.
- Lead on the effective management of programmes within sites that support the strategic priorities, promote customer attrition and retention, and optimise commercial return.
- Lead on the effective management of Health and Safety for the location, embedding a culture of effective control, consistent compliance, and continuous improvement through effective planning and performance monitoring.
- Ensure that corporate governance arrangements are adhered to.
You Must Have:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in exercise science, kinesiology, or Level 3 Fitness qualification.
- Certificate as a Personal Trainer.
- CPR and First Aid Certificates.
- Experienced people manager within health and fitness.
- Experience of managing budgets, understands and can interpret budgetary information.
- Experience of risk assessment and management of health and safety.
